A late net worth update this month due to holidays and work getting in the way.
We had a great holiday in Bournemouth in July and we timed it just right for the heatwave, it was like being abroad. The kids loved it on the beach and swimming in the sea. Our hotel was minutes walk away from the beach so we made the most of it and generally just chilled out everyday. The only bit of sightseeing we did was on the way home via Stonehenge and Avebury stone circle.
Fu#3 has now got his GCSE results and he has done really well. He achieved 10 in total, all being A’s and B’s in old money. The numbering system of grades is still confusing and totally pointless in my opinion.
Me and Mrs Fu have been busy at work following our holiday away. We are going to try to get a few more days out with the kids before the summer holidays end and they go back to school.

Why do you include the State Pension in your figures?
Hi Craig
I include it because I’ve paid in 35 years NI contributions and I believe I’m going to get it.
Thanks
Thanks for the confirmation. I have 27 years of contributions but don’t count it in my number, but like you believe I will get the full amount once I hit 35 years contributions.
My colleague was in Bournemouth too during the heatwave and they had such a great time that she is considering not going abroad again with her kids, even after restrictions have been lifted!
Like you, the state pension is part of my FIRE plan too. I’ve paid 33 years but need 5 more to get the max as I was contracted out.
By the way, not sure if you’re aware, but there’s a face-to-face FIRE meet-up on Friday 27th August if you’re ok about meeting people – it’s at the BrewDog Outpost on Oxford Road from 6pm. Maybe see you and Mrs Fu there.
