November ’18 – Net Worth and monthly updates #4

Reading other bloggers monthly updates it seems like everyone’s had a busy November, and it has been no different in the FU household.

The kids have settled into school, and Mrs Fu and I are back in the routine of being a taxi service for all the kid’s activities and social lives.

As well as continually aiming to cut out unnecessary expenses and keep our monthly costs down, I have been extremely busy at work trying to increase our income and have become more focused on not letting this slip.

I work in construction and I am employed by my own Ltd building company. Therefore my income can be very lumpy, and I also only tend to take money out as and when needed (and if the company can afford it!). I am trying to build up some cash reserves before April so that I can throw as much as possible into my SIPP before then.

Mrs FU has been busy increasing her income by doing some tutoring from home and this has helped greatly with cash flow for regular bills. Ken from The Humble Penny has a great post on how to set up a tutoring business here.

Now onto the figures.

MONTHLY UPDATE AND GOALS

Net Worth Nov. 18 – £420,222 (Oct 18 £420,037) +0% +£185

Assets – £676,250  (£677,037) -0%  -£817

Cash/bank £1000 +0%

Overall Net Worth is pretty much unchanged from last month, increasing by only £185. Still going in the right direction at least.

Assets are down slightly due to my SIPP valuation being lower by £817, but liabilities are down by a little bit more at £972.

Main home value is unchanged and I will update this when Q4 figures are available on the Nationwide House price index calculator.

SIPP Dividends paid – 2018 ytd £1271.09  Av. £115.55/m  (2017 total £912.05 Av. £76.00/m)

Other Monthly/weekly goals

Matched Betting – +£788.65

Total to date since starting 13m ago £3773.85 (£2985.20 to last month) means we made £788.65 profit this month, broken down as follows.

Casino offers to date £1070.35 (£653.39) = £416.96 profit this month

Each way sniping to date £42.45 (-£19.96) = £62.41 profit this month

Normal match betting offers £309.28 profit this month

Diet and Fitness – After last months great weight loss of 4kg I have remained at the same weight and not lost any more, but at least I have not put it back on. This is partly down to relaxing my intermittent fasting rules, doing slightly less exercise due to a having a bad chest for 2 weeks, and being busy at work.  I am going to attack this with renewed vigour in December to try and lose another 3kg before the Christmas binge!

eBay/selling – Mrs FU has been selling some bits but nothing much to report.

Have a great December everyone.

Any comments/questions always welcome

  1. £185 is better than nothing!

Do you include your Ltd company’s assets in your net worth calculations?

    Thanks

Nice going on the matched betting – good to see numbers up when the markets are down! November wasn’t a great month for me but to be honest, as long as it covers my Oddsmonkey subscription, it’s worth spending time over!

Nice passive income too being thrown out by your SIPP – is that income from ETFs?

      Hi weenie

Happy to see my numbers still going up.

The income in my SIPP is from a mixture of shares, ETFs, and investment trusts. My portfolio is far too complicated at the moment but I don’t really want to sell anything off at the moment. I will probably leave existing holdings as they are and keep it simple with ongoing contributions.

      Cheers for commenting
